“Kaapzicht’s 1947 vineyard is the second oldest Chenin Blanc block in the country after Mrs Kirsten. ‘We don’t do anything to it,’ is Danie Steytler’s description of the winemaking here, as he rightly allows this amazing 1.1-hectare site to speak for itself. Quince, pear, citrus and white pepper flavours are framed by 50% new wood. 2023-30”
Tim Atkin on tasting the 1947 2022
We’re thrilled that Tim Atkin has given the 1947 2022 a score of 95 points in his latest South Africa 2023 Special Report. However, our 1947 wasn’t the only one of our wines to do well. The Kliprug Chenin blanc scored 92 points and the Skemerlig Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 and the Skraalhans Pinotage 2022 both scored 91 points.
